Australian Mums need your support

Filed under: life in general, something other than sewing — by countrystitchin @ 6:31 pm

I received this newsletter the other day & with the permission of Mad Cow I am blogging it to help get the word out there.

It’s Time for a National Response

We don’t normally do this, but this is an issue we felt we needed to really get behind, and its one of the things Real Mums is all about. That is, supporting Mums all over Australia.

PaNDa - the Post and Ante Natal Depression Association have launched a campaign “It’s time for a national response” requesting the Federal Government fun a National peer-to-peer helpline dedicated to providing support for all Australian Mums with antenatal and postnatal depression.

Currently, PaNDa’s model of a highly successful peer-to-peer helpline and suport sevice - where people who have experienced and worked their way back from AND and PND have been trained to assist other Mums - is only available in one Australian state.

Sadly, there are only three Australian states that operate dedicated antenatal and postnatal depression services for women and their families seeking counselling, support and referral.

PND affects 1 in 7 Australian Mums - so there are a lot of women, their families and their kids out there who need us.

We ask that you support PaNDa and Mums all over Australia by visiting the PaNDa websites - http://www.panda.org.au, or downloading this postcard, signing it and sending it off to the Health Minister the Hon. Nicola Roxon and lets get this much needed service available to everyone.

Thank you for your time, and thanking you in advance from Real Mums and on behalf of PaNDa for your amazing support!

Until next time, yours in Mumming,

Mad Cow

With the fabric I used how could it be called anything but Springtime Tote??

I love the colours & am so impressed with the way this bag turned out. Nice & roomy on the inside without being bulky on the outside.

New bag style

Filed under: Sewing, fashion — by countrystitchin @ 12:42 pm

I played around last week & came up with this style of bag, & funnily enough I had the perfect fabric for it out in the sewing stash.

This is a special bag for another reason the recipient is a very special person that I will reveal soon :)

Got Smelly containers?

Filed under: From the country kitchen — by countrystitchin @ 8:32 pm

Do you have any plastic containers that still smell of the last thing they were used to store?? I used to have a couple & no amount of soaking or scrubbing would get rid of the smell. I actually had 2 containers that I no longer used due to the smell but didnt throw out due to the price!!

Well I dont have the problem any more, & I will share with you why. Now when I was first told of the solution I thought “yeah right ” but decided to try it any way & guess what……..it actually worked!!!

OK so what did I do?? I filled the container with water & stuck it in the freezer until frozen solid ( read until I remembered I had stuck it in the back freezer <blush>) Then I tied the large iceblock out onto the lawn so it wouldnt waste all the water & washed my container. NO SMELL!!!!!!! Honest the smell was gone completely.

So drag out your smelly containers & give it a go, let me know how you went!!!

Chicken Noodle Thingy :)

Filed under: From the country kitchen — by countrystitchin @ 8:29 pm
Dont you just love the flash name of this recipe? My kids named it after asking what it was called & my response of, Hmm dunno I jut made it up as I went. LOL This is a great one to make when you are running short on time, inspiration or both.

Ingredients:

1 BBQ Chicken, broken up & chopped into bite size pieces

Whatever vegies you like personally I use potatoes, peeled & cubed, carrots peeled & diced, broccolli, cauliflower & peas.

1 family size packet pasta & sauce Alfredo

Method:

Cook pasta as packet directions, cook vegies until tender, I usually microwave for about 20mins. Put into a large bowl with the pasta & the chopped up chicken. Gently combine all ingredients & serve.

*Not Freezable, can reheat the next day *

Let me know what you think when you try it )
