Oh boy do I have some FABULOUS prizes up for grabs!!! Thanks to the generosity of online friends I am running a monster raffle & you have a chance to win one of the 32 fabulous prizes for only $1 !! And your $1 will go towards helping my daughters yr 6/7 class go on their class camp where they will experience whale watching, snorkeling, sand boarding & learn about caring for wonderful tourist attractions like Coral Bay (which is where they are going). They are a great bunch of 12 kids who have been busily selling raffle tickets, organising bingo nights, doing $100 note raffles. So I have decided to run this raffle exclusively online & the kids will know nothing of it until I hand them the money at the end of the raffle. So if you would like to buy a ticket or 2, or would like to help spread the word keep reading :)

Ok down to the nitty gritty; I have 32 prizes on offer, tickets are $1 or 6 tickets for $5. You can buy your tickets by Emailing me how many you would like & then I will reply with direct deposit or pay pal instructions for payment. Once payment is received I will write out your tickets & send you a photo as proof. Ticket sales will go for 4 weeks & the final day for buying is midnight (WA time) Monday 16th June 2008. Prizes will be drawn on Tuesday 17th by a JP & I will notify all winners & publish the winners in a separate posting here on my blog.

Australian Mums need your support

Filed under: life in general, something other than sewing — by countrystitchin @ 6:31 pm

I received this newsletter the other day & with the permission of Mad Cow I am blogging it to help get the word out there.

It’s Time for a National Response

We don’t normally do this, but this is an issue we felt we needed to really get behind, and its one of the things Real Mums is all about. That is, supporting Mums all over Australia.

PaNDa - the Post and Ante Natal Depression Association have launched a campaign “It’s time for a national response” requesting the Federal Government fun a National peer-to-peer helpline dedicated to providing support for all Australian Mums with antenatal and postnatal depression.

Currently, PaNDa’s model of a highly successful peer-to-peer helpline and suport sevice - where people who have experienced and worked their way back from AND and PND have been trained to assist other Mums - is only available in one Australian state.

Sadly, there are only three Australian states that operate dedicated antenatal and postnatal depression services for women and their families seeking counselling, support and referral.

PND affects 1 in 7 Australian Mums - so there are a lot of women, their families and their kids out there who need us.

We ask that you support PaNDa and Mums all over Australia by visiting the PaNDa websites - http://www.panda.org.au, or downloading this postcard, signing it and sending it off to the Health Minister the Hon. Nicola Roxon and lets get this much needed service available to everyone.

http://www.realmums.com.au/images/POSTCARD_BACK.pdf

Thank you for your time, and thanking you in advance from Real Mums and on behalf of PaNDa for your amazing support!

Until next time, yours in Mumming,

Mad Cow

I recently had the joy of going to town to spend a day shopping, now anyone who frequents shopping centres from mid October knows the Christmas hustle & bustle is starting. After a particularly harrowing day I came  home to vent .  Here is a link to  my  vent that became an article LOL

A monumentous acheivement

I have to brag to you all that my 12month weight loss/exercise program has been well worth it. This time last year I was a size 16 creeping up to an 18 with a 16DD bust. And miserable to boot. But not anymore!!! I am now proudly & comfortably wearing size 10 yes size 10 denim 3/4pants & size 12 t-shirts. Also down to a 14C/12D bust. To say I am happy is an understatement I am freakin’ ecstatic!!! I feel so much better in myself & so much more energy its amazing. I have dropped 17kg in weight & inches for all parts of my body.

Mind you it hasn’t been easy & yes I have had blowouts, but hey I am human what do you expect? I still have my chocolate just not as often or as in bulk quantities as I used to!! But I can fit back into my lingerie much to hubby’s delight :)

As I was typing this post the song Skinny Girls by Alan O’Day popped into my head (I do have this somewhere on a 45 record!!)

Are you old enough to remember that song too ??

you can listen to it here if you want to.

Song Lyrics: Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls.
I love em’ I love em’ I love em’
[Repeat x 2.]

Skinny girls!
They’re so compact.
You can put ‘em in your pocket,
feed ‘em a snack.
Those skinny girls.

Take em’ to a drive in (drive in, drive in, drive in).
They can liven up the show (show show show)
Nobody has to know.
Now if they slow you down,
you can pick ‘em up off the ground
when you’re ready to go.

I… I love em’ I love em’ I love em’
I love em’ I love em’ I love em’
Those skinny girls.

… love em’ I love em’ I love em’
I love em’ I love em’ I love em’
Those skinny girls.

Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls.
Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls.
Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls.
I love those skinny girls (girls x 7)

Skinny girls!
You can twirl ‘em when you dance!
You can toss ‘em in the air when you make romance.
Those skinny girls.

They make you feel gigantic.
They go frantic over you.
Nothing you have to do.
When you want to be alone,
just turn ‘em to the side.
They’re easy to hide
From you.

I love em’ I love em’ I love em’
I love em’ I love em’ I love em’
Those skinny girls.

… love em’ I love em’ I love em’
I love em’ I love em’ I love em’
Those skinny girls.

Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls.
Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls.

Ah, skinny girls! They talk real high.
They make you cry
when they say goodbye.

I love her I love her I love her
I love her I love her I love her
That skinny girl.

I love em’ I love em’ I love em’
I love em’ I love em’ I love em’
Those skinny girls.

Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls.
Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls. Skinny girls.
I love em’ I love em’ I love em’
